Teachers and administrative candidates typically demonstrate communication skills, strong organizational abilities and a desire to continue learning as they work in their profession.

Elementary and secondary teachers usually hold at least a bachelor’s degree, while college and university instructors have a master’s or doctorate degree. States also require teachers to pass a certification test and earn continuing education credits. Administrators almost always have at least a master’s degree, teaching experience and certification.
